My Topic
My topic is holidays and celebrations of the nineteenth century. I am interested in finding out more about the specific holidays that were celebrated in the mentioned time period and finding out how these holidays were celebrated. I want to find out if they had the same holidays as we do today, or if they are different. I want to find out if they celebrated holidays in the same manner and with the same traditions as we have now in the present. I think it would be interesting to study what they did at the celebrations, what they ate, if they had music, or specific traditions, etc. I would also like to know how the holidays we have today were evolved. To focus on one single holiday, for example Christmas, and see what the traditions were back in the nineteenth century. And compare them with our current traditions and see how it formed into what we currently do on or for the Christmas holiday. I am interested in this topic because I think it would be very interesting to compare now and then. I think that holidays are a very important part of our lifestyles now, so it would be interesting to see if the same applied back then. However, further into my research, I may choose to just do either holidays or celebrations, if together they are too broad. I am not quite sure where I am going with my paper just yet, so I may just choose to the history of just one specific holiday.
